Today...

Its hard to believe that TWO YEARS AGO Kayla was born. TWO YEARS. How? It has gone so exceedingly fast. When I flash back to July 30th, 2008 it doesnt feel like its been 2 whole years. Yet at the same time, I can hardly remember what life felt like before this little girl entered our world. There are days Im so tired I want to cry. There are days I just want to see my living room floor again. But on those days I remind myself of the days I laid in bed crying wishing my lack of sleep be from a baby at night or wishing that our bare living room had toys strewn all over it. I would picture toys in that corner and that spot and imagine what those toys might be. Now I can look around and SEE the REAL LIVE ACTUAL toys...EVERY WHERE.
You can read my blog post on Kayla's Birth Day HERE.
We started the morning early. We had about a 20 minute drive to Birth Mother's apartment to meet her, Birth Father, and friend there. Birth Mother was to check into the hospital at 8 AM to start induction. I remember that morning. I remember walking behind Birth Mother and Father into hospital and I just watched Birth Mother and wondered how she felt, I looked at THE belly and thought, "OUR baby is in there and we are about to meet her!" It was exciting and nerve wracking. I didn't know if I should show my excitement, my anticipation, my anxiousness, my nervousness, my happiness. I didn't know if showing all that would be ok because I knew that while this was the happiest day of our lives, it was also Birth Mother's and Birth Father's day of great saddness and heartache. How could I walk around in such joy while they sat with broken hearts? But in the end, it was impossible to lower the level of pure dreamy bliss we were in. And now 2 years later, Im so glad we didnt hide it. If we did, they would have wondered why weren't happier. At least I would if I was in that position, I think.

Upon arrival Birth Mother was already 3 cm dilated. The doctor said she would deliver by the afternoon and we all thought he was a little crazy, because that WAS SO SOON. Her water was soon broken. I remember this very well. We all stood in the room but with a curtain drawn between her and us, myself, Nick, Birth Father and friend. This moment was so exciting! This was IT. Her water was broken, the pitocin was started...the baby is coming! I remember not long after this Birth Mother started feeling the contractions and almost right away she dilated to 4 cm.

Birth Mother then asked for the epidural so myself, Nick and Birth Father headed down to the cafeteria for breakfast. Months later I found out Birth Mother wasnt happy about this! She wasnt allowed to eat and we left her for breakfast! Haha. Poor girl.

We came back to an epidural'd Birth Mother and she was so happy and content and didnt feel a thing. She was talking and laughing like nothing. I swear she made labor look like no labor at all. We sat around her room and talked, joked, watched tv and tried to entertain ourselves. Within 90 minutes of this she was dilated to a WHOLE 6 cm! I remember the nurse checking her with us behind the curtain again and the nurse saying the baby has a lot of hair. I came out from the curtain all excited and asked, "You can see her!?" The nurse laughed and said, "No, I can feel her." I thought, oh duh...how embarrassing.

An hour later Birth Mother was ready to push and was dilated to 10 cm. The doctor had barely just made it into the room when Kayla was born in about 1 push and a half, only 6 hours later at 2:34 pm. I remember seeing her head before she came out and this was the moment I saw her for the very first time. I dont even feel like I was there. It feels like it was all a dream, like I was in someone else's body watching this miracle occur. She came out so fast, so easy and so smoothly. Nick stood next to the doctor and before we all knew it, he was cutting her umbilical cord.

She was then whisked off to the baby station and we just stood there in shock. We just stood there and didnt move.
The nurses all motioned for us to come over to see her. Nick went immediately over as fast as super man could get to her.

Right away his tears flowed and he sobbed like a baby. I walked over right behind him and saw him melting down like butter over a warm buiscut. I looked at Kayla and my very first thought that I will NEVER forget was, " A REAL LIVE TAKE HOME BABY." I just stood there. Crying. It even makes me cry just remembering all this. Then it was like a chain reaction. Nick cried. I cried. Birth Father cried. Birth Mother cried. Friend cried. The nurse then said to me that I could touch her. I touched her hand. So warm, so tiny, so soft, so pink, so wrinkled, so new. Was this really MY baby? Are the last 5 years REALLY now behind us? How are we SO lucky? How? How did this happen? And so fast? Who did this for us and why? While all this was going on, Birth Mother was delivering the placenta (which we later saw in a white bucket, interesting..haha!) and getting stitched up.

She was 8 pounds 4.1 ounces, 21" long.

The nurses cleaned up Kayla, weighed her,and did her footprints.

They gave her a shot, put a diaper on her, covered her, put a hat on her and then she was brought over to Birth Mother and Father. This moment I will never forget. This picture says it all.

Then she was taken off to the nursery where we followed for Nick to hold her first and feed her first (baby hog) and our first family picture of THREE! And a little freshen up from the nurses.

Then it was my turn....I was still in a state of disbelief. My hard work and determination to be a Mother had finally after 5 years been paid off. In a way I never thought it would, in a million different ways. All the time, money, heartache, pain, surgery, emotion, tears, injections, pills, long drives, over night hotel stays, ultrasounds, pain, cramps, temperatures, charting, and being exposed in ways I never want to again to an endless amount of complete strangers and last but certainly not the least, miscarriages....was worth every.single.second. It was like Kayla knew already that I was her Mother. I couldnt get over the way she looked at me already.

I honestly dont remember what happened after this but I do remember getting no sleep this night. I dont remember much of the next day in this hospital either. I do remember Birth Mother's son coming to visit and numerous other visitors of Birth Mother and Birth Father including family and friends. It was a bit overwhelming with so many people coming in and out and a pretty darn stressful. (Caden's stay at the hospital was so much better on us and Birth Mother, much more quiet and private and nice) I remember hanging out in Birth Mother's room all day with her but I dont remember much of what happened. I remember leaving for lunch. We went to The Golden Corral because it was close. We stopped in the hospital gift shop and got pink bubble gum Its A Girl cigars for everyone. I remember holding and feeding and changing Kayla a lot. I remember having to watch all the visitors hold her and say things to Birth Mother I wish they would have thought about before saying. Nick and I would just smile and cringe hoping it wouldn't upset her.

I remember a lot about the 3rd day, Birth Mother's day to relinquish rights, and placement day. I first want to say that I am more thankful then EVER that Caden's placement day was not this hard.

This day was HARD. I dont even know if I can describe it fully so that you, my readers can really understand. This day was so hard on our Birth Mother. She signed her rights away with Kayla in her lap. She cried through the whole process and even went down hill after the adoption (which led to her pregnancy with Caden). This day was just so heavy on us and everyone, so depressing for everyone, so stressful, so tense. You could FEEL the tension and sadness in the air. I was confident that Birth Mother would stick to her decision but this did not make it easy. She went into this not knowing us totally. Not knowing if her choice was right. Not knowing what to expect. Not knowing what to do and with not much support. The hospital goodbye was awful. I could tell she was trying so hard to not cry but failed miserably. What do we do or say to make her feel better? There was nothing. I remember watching her grab all the things she had packed up and walking out the door of the room she gave birth to Kayla in. We left the hospital as happy as we have NEVER been while Birth Mother was going home alone and with empty arms (Only mementos and a Minnie Mouse we had given her) to an apartment she shared with a friend, with pain medication and alcohol. To think about Birth Mother at this point was upsetting. I just kept telling myself with time she will get better.
But she didn't...until Caden was born.

2 years later, I still have to pinch myself. Especially now with TWO babies. When Kayla was born I was complete. Could NOT have been happier, but I still knew something was missing. Something wasn't complete. I had this instinct, this want, this need in life that still wasn't there. It just wasn't right, yet. I had no idea how to go about it. I thought that IVF again far in the future could be a possibility. I was sure we would NOT have another baby through adoption. It was too expensive. It was too stressful and it was too much of a roller coaster. Plus going through an agency and the wait for a Birth Mother to choose us..just wasnt on my list of something I wanted to do. If someone would have told me 18 months and 5 days later we would be holding our baby boy, Kayla's biological baby brother I would have laughed so hard and told that person they are a joke. There would be no way we would be THAT lucky. Plus, our Birth Mother has learned her lesson by now, I'm sure.

The moment I laid eyes on my baby boy 18 months and 5 days later...that was all gone. The mothering instinct inside my self knew he was coming. Little did I know.

Stay tuned for tomorrow's blog all about Kayla's 2nd Birthday!

Videos/Pictures/Updates on the babes!

Some videos!

Some updates!

*Today between 6 am and 12 pm, Kayla went pee on the potty FOUR times, without me asking! So, I took her to the BX and she got some new beach toys and of course, CANDY.

*Today, Kayla got her very first 2nd Birthday Card. I must admit, that was a bit sad and amazing at the same time. Thank You Great Great Grandma and Grandpap! Oh, and it had $5 in it!

*2 days ago Caden's TWO bottom teeth broke through his gums. I was shocked. I mean, he is ONLY 5 months old and I had no indication of them being THIS close!

*Caden is almost through all the stage 2 baby foods. He does NOT like green veggies. This must have been inherited from MiMi. Hehe! He MUST have a fruit in the morning after his bottle and then a veggie for dinner.

*Caden is very close to crawling. He gets his ENTIRE body up off the floor, he gets up on his hands and feet and looks like he is going to take off at about 30 MPH. He can maneuver all over the living room and get to any position for any toy within seconds.

*Dont ask me how he is getting this big this fast at only 5 months old. I was SO SO sure that the 2nd baby would grow slower. But this kid...he is growing twice as fast as Kayla did. I swear.

*Birth Mom has completed her 9 month college program and graduates on July 29th, 1 day before Kayla's 2nd Birthday. We are so happy for her and looking forward to see what comes next for her!

*I am still running. The scale still has not changed from 140.5 pounds in 4 weeks now and while its VERY frustrating Im still going to continue to run. Id rather be stuck at 140, then be at 159 and counting like before. I still am enjoying eating better and it felt great to be hiking around the falls carrying 20 pounds on the front of me and not being worn out, or even out of breath for 1 second, and my legs not even close to being sore. I assume I will eventually lose the next 10 pounds. I hope.

Here are some pictures. Last weekend we went to the falls here on island and both kids really enjoyed it, as did Mama and Dada.

Monthly Birthdays + W3D4

On May 30th, Kayla turned a whopping 22 months old. How in the world can 22 months pass by like this? She brightens my day like no one else can in a way that no one else can. I cant imagine a day without her. I cant imagine going hours with out her. How does Nick do it? How does he walk out that door 5 days a week and not see her all day long? I cant believe she is almost 2 years old. Before I know she will be 22 years old and I will have to learn to live life without her in it every single day. How do parents do this? Please tell me the secret, because within a blink of an eye..it's going to happen.
2 years ago this week, I was headed to Pennsylvania to await the birth of this little girl that I had no idea I would love so much. My mother in law and I would sit out on the deck and dream and imagine and wonder and discuss what we thought she would look like. We were pretty darn close...but I could N-E-V-E-R have dreamed she would be this perfect and this beautiful. I never thought a baby could have been made this perfect JUST for us. Her giggles, her laughs, her squeals, her cries, her tears, her big brown eyes, her eyelashes, her hair, her curls, her nose, her lips, her giant hands and feet, and tan skin, her long legs and arms, her giant heart, her personality, her cleverness, her determination, her ingenuity, her willingness and her ability to learn...just PERFECTION. Made only for us.

Happy 22 month Birthday little munchkin. Stop growing up so fast.

Tomorrow, June 4th, Caden will be 4 months old. How is THIS possible?

Wasn't it just weeks ago we stressed about his adoption? Wasn't it just weeks ago that I had to hold onto hope by a piece of thread and pray that it wouldn't break, that we wouldn't lose him. I had this tremendously painfully gut and heart feeling that he was made for us and I was trying so hard to convey this to the world while I had to plea and fight and beg the universe to make this work out. 2 months before we even found out about birth mother's pregnancy with him, I called my mother in law in tears wondering why on earth I had this overwhelming feeling that I needed more babies. I even blogged about it. I wanted it to go away and I couldn't understand it. Little did I know....our lives were about to change in a massive way. FOREVER. He was born. And that feeling was GONE. I could finally breathe and live with a light heart knowing and feeling for the first time in my entire life that this family was complete.
This little life that birth mother had created was not without reason. Everyone took the news of this pregnancy as a burden, even us before she asked us to adopt him. He was no doubt without reason. Not only did he complete this family in more ways than one, but he gave our birth mother the reality check she needed to get her life on track, get her GED, and go to college.

I couldn't imagine life without this little boy. While his personality is still waiting to erupt, it wont be long. I cannot wait for the day I hear his true real baby giggle. I cant wait to see the person he starts to become.

How lucky can one married couple get? Just how fortunate? It was all written in the stars long before we were even aware. We got pregnant twice and miscarried 2 babies. These 2 babies kept us going. They gave us just enough hope to lead us through the rocky path that ended with our 2 babies, Kayla and Caden.

To all my blog readers, my friends who are still waiting...your happy ending is written in the stars too. Dont give up.

If it's not a happy ending, then it's not the end.

Happy 4 month Birthday Caden. Dont grow up as fast as your sister is.

Today is Week 3 Day 4 in my running program. As of this morning I am down a pound already this week and its only Thursday. This brings me down 9 pounds weighing in at 150 this morning. I dont see a huge difference yet, but it will come. I still cant even believe I let myself gain that much weight. I'd say that the happiest I have been was weighing in at 130, so I guess 20 more pounds to go. I know I can do it. Just wish it didnt take this much time!

According to my running log I have gone a total of 8.9 miles this week so far. Today I did my work out twice, first thing in the morning and then again during the babies nap time with an extra 3 minute fast pace walk. I plan on doing 2 workouts tomorrow if I am able and then taking Saturday off. This training for a 5K thing...is addicting. So, I will TRY to take Saturday off. We are planning a day at the water park so that should be a lot of workout in itself!

Birth Mother's Graduation

I am happy to say that our Birth Mother is among the class of 2010. She was one of many, of the biggest class to graduate in the history of her high school for GED. She worked hard at finally getting her high school diploma and graduated this past Wednesday. She continues to go to college and will graduate in June from a 9 month program for medical coding. Her plan is to then go back to college to become a nurse and her goal is to work on the Labor and Delivery unit.

Its good to know her son is seeing her accomplish all this. And in the future it will great to know that Kayla and Caden will see what she has accomplished in her life.

Im also happy to say since Caden's birth she has been on the right rack. Keeping her head up, being a good Mom to her son, taking care of herself and not hanging out with the wrong crowd.

I hope it continues on this path!

*Im only showing blurring pictures because I doubt she would want her face all over my blog/the internet for anyone to see!

Because

A gift for our birth mother. Because she gave birth to TWO babies, and trusted in us enough to hand over their lives, to us. Words cant describe.

Picture is a little blurry...but its there.

I would love to be more of an adoption advocate. I wont be nearly as great as Mrs. R But I want to try help families find their forever family, like we did.

So, like Danya and Kevin a few posts below...I want to share with you more often, more families in hopes that the more exposure they get, the more of a chance they get. I mean, ya never know. That is exactly how our Birth Mom found us.

Check out Ryan, Helen and Emily...hoping to adopt their second baby.

Life is grand

I have never felt more complete in my life. This baby boy was so meant to be with us. The 4 of us were all made for each other. Dada, Mama, Kayla and Caden. Its so perfect. Once there was a time we thought we would never become parents, and here we are with TWO babies in diapers. Its amazing. It leaves me speechless. For 5 years I cried wondering if this would ever happen. I wondered who the little souls were that I needed in my life. I would say to Nick, why cant a teenager just drop off her babies at our front door? Not knowing (or maybe I did) what was really in store for us.

Our Birth Mom is doing good. I have talked to her twice now since Caden's birth and so far she is staying on the right path. A week after Kayla's birth she was already down the wrong path with alcohol, but so far so good a week after Caden's birth. I really hope she can keep on the right road. She deserves better in life as well as these children deserving a good Birth Mom. We can really see a change in her and I hope it stays that way.

Im still trying to juggle and figure out life with 2 babies. We are still in PA. We must wait for the paperwork that allows me to get Caden's passport. Having 2 babies sure is different. Trying to juggle time equally between the two so neither one feels left out, especially Kayla since all her life its been just mommy and me. I dont have much time or desire for showering. LOL! Dinner is different. Trying to feed Kayla a decent meal, keep a bottle in Caden's mouth and feeding myself.

Today Caden is one week old. Hardly can even believe it's been a whole week. I hope he doesnt grow up as fast as Kayla did. I dont know what happened to my toddler. She is more like a 3 year old....who is getting her molars in and it's making her sick. A whole other story there...ugh.

Having a little boy sure is different from having a little girl. I have been peed on three times, plus he peed all over himself once in the hospital. When he is awake he wants to be held. When Kayla was this little she would sit in a bouncy chair for as long as you let her.

I honestly dont know how I can become more lucky than I already am....of course winning a multimillion dollar lottery would be nice, but really....Im married to a great man who serves our country with pride, I have a daughter, a son, and get to see and live all over the world. What more can I ask for?

We're on track

We're on track. This adoption is still on track even though sometimes my posts here seem as if things arent. I wish so much I could put details out there to keep you all in the loop of whats going on, but until birth father's rights are terminated I feel I should keep those details away from the blog since I dont know who reads this.

But things are good. There are a few bumps on the road that havent smoothed over yet, such as our fbi clearance not being back yet. But Birth Mother and I have figured a way around this. Of course it being more risky, but we found a way none the less IF it still isnt back before the baby is released from the hospital. And our adoption case manager doesnt seem concerned that it wont be back in time.

Monday Im supposed to get a call from our adoption case manager to discuss a few things. Tuesday Im going to be calling to check on the status of our fbi clearance. Thursday is Birth Mom's next doctor's appointment, where we could possibly get an induction date, and over the weekend we could be on our way to FL to await the birth.

For those who have been pregnant/given birth: Birth Mom's last appointment on Thursday the doctor told her she was not dialated at all but her cervix was starting to thin. I dont remember this happening with Kayla. Can you all tell me what this means? or indicates? Does this mean the baby will come early? I sure hope not! We need all the time we can get out of this pregnancy.

15 month well baby stats, and other news

Yes, Kayla is 16.5 months old but we just on Friday got into her 15 month well baby visit.

She is as healthy as a horse (whatever that saying is supposed to mean anyways). But, she has dropped down the 4th percentile on the charts for weight. The doctor has us starting her on a high calorie food diet and in a month she goes back in for another weight check.

Since her 12 month well baby she has lost 1 pound and gained 2.5 inches in height.

She is very tall and very thin....just like both of her birth parents. So I am in no way concerned.

Today is Sunday. Today I'm going to fax the request for home study letter from our attorney to Guam Social Services and hope that we can get our home study on time.

Im also still waiting on an email from the attorney answering a few questions we had, one being if they would accept payments from us. If they cant accept payments or give us a grant within the amount of time we need, then we cant go the adoption attorney route.

The problem with all this waiting is...
Time is even shorter than we thought.

A couple nights ago Birth Mom had some contractions. She went to the hospital, got some meds to stop contractions and is now on beds rest. The nurse told her to expect this baby sooner than due date. How soon? We have no idea.

Kayla still needs her passport. That takes 10 days and I plan to get that on Monday.

So what next? I don't know.

Legal Guardianship help?

So I talked to Birth Mom and Birth Mom's Aunt today. They want us to have this little boy as much as we want to have this little boy. They want no one else but us to have him.

I told Aunt that we simply cannot do this if we don't find a way around the large upfront adoption costs. So the hunt is on to see if we can get legal guardianship of the baby, save up money for adoption, then adopt through an attorney and not an agency.
(It just makes me sick we need so much money to give a baby a home. I cant say that enough)
Aunt is going to do some research tomorrow. She has already gotten in touch with an attorney, I believe, and she said she would email me tomorrow after she gets some answers.

She says legal guardianship shouldn't be difficult. She tried to gain it for Birth Mom's 1st born baby a while back and all it required was Birth Mom's consent and other paperwork.

That is the only information I have on how this works. Does anyone else know of anything about legal guardianship? Do you know any attorney's that can help us with getting this guardianship once the baby is born?

Adoption after Foster Care is an option but that would be very last resort, if even at all. Because then the state would get involved and we would probably not get him straight from the hospital and don't even know if they would allow us to take him out of the country.

I dont know.

On a lighter note...much lighter note. We got our new camera today! We purchased this before Birth Mom asked us to adopt baby boy but it just got to us in the mail today. We been waiting impatiently for a month now and its finally here. I haven't opened it, I'm going to let Nick open it when he gets home from work. So once we figure how to use this thing...there WILL be pictures!

And please forgive...I dont know what kind of camera it is! I will let you know when Nick reminds me. ;)

at a loss for a title here....

I got an email this morning from birth mom. I'm due to call her in 2 hours. Hopefully the next 2 hours fly by. I guess I could drown myself in chores, or scrap booking until Kayla's nap time in an hour.

Birth Mom's Aunt wants to talk to me this time, about maybe coming up with some other options such as us taking legal guardianship or fostering the baby until we can come up with the money for the adoption.

So, she really wants us to have this baby boy. And, we really want this baby boy.

We just cant some up with enough cash in time. This includes taking every penny from savings, and maxing out a credit card.

So, may be one of the above options can work?

I did finally after all this time get in touch with some one on a more personal level from the Guam Child Protective Services and she was helpful. She told me not to give up, this is totally possible and we could complete the home study on time with a request from an attorney. The reason they say it takes so long is because of the getting all the documents together. Which we can do in no time. I already have our background clearance and already have scheduled appointments for our physical clearance. Mine is tomorrow and Nick's on Monday. So no problem here.

So, may be it is possible?

I don't know.

I just have to convince my husband this MIGHT possible without breaking our bank entirely and is possible to get our home study done in time.

I just want it all over.

I don't want to give up and wonder if this or that would have worked.

I don't want to continue on and only be let down.

Its such a tough road to be on.

Onto other news,

Kayla has been in her big girl bed for a month now! I don't remember what exact day she started sleeping in the bed, but it wasn't long after her 15 month birthday. She is now 16 months and a week old and doing fantastic in her bed. Its up against a wall and we have a safety rail on the other side of it. She sleeps in there for most nap times and when she is ready to wake up she comes out of her room by herself. I must say it is very strange to give her this much independence. I don't think I am ready for it yet even though she is.

*SIGH*

So, birth mom is not having second thoughts, which makes this even harder even though I didn't think this could be any harder.

She wants me to call her today. I need to talk to Nick before I call her so I wont be calling her until tomorrow. Stupid time difference. Stupid Guam.

Unofficially Official....

What the title means is that I did talk to Birth Mom yesterday for about an hour on the phone, and she is 100% sure this is what she wants.

While it is WONDERFUL news for us, I cant imagine how heartbroken she must be to have to do this again.

Now the search is OFFICIALLY on for a pro bono attorney, or at least an attorney not looking to fill his pockets with money.

With the help of some friends searching for attorneys, I have sent emails this morning to TEN attorneys in Florida and its only 11:10 AM.

Birth Mom and her Aunt are also on the hunt.

Please pray one of them takes a bite.

Please.

Please.

Well..I dont know.

Well, those who have been curious...Birth Mom informed me by email several days ago that she is giving the baby up for adoption. I really wish and hope that the baby could come to us. But,

1) Birth Mom has not asked us if we wanted the baby. I emailed her but haven't heard anything from her. It usually takes her a while to get to her email.
2) We don't have the funds it all requires. We got out of debt from Kayla's adoption not long ago but this time we don't have a car to sell to get enough cash. We owe too much on both of our cars. Of course I would get rid of my car in a heartbeat to get rid of the monthly payments and we would make do with only 1 car. But I don't think that would help nearly as much as we would need it to.

It cost us nearly $30,000 for Kayla's adoption.
$15,000 just for the attorney fees. If we could somehow do away with attorney fess, Kayla could maybe, just maybe, have her brother right here with her.

Of course we would still need to pay for 3 flight tickets to FL at about $1,700 EACH. Hotel, food, rental car. I don't know if our home study is still good or if there is some sort of 'expiration' date. Which means another $1,000 for another home study. We gave Birth Mom $5,000 cash for living expenses...maybe this time around she wouldn't need as much or any at all?

Oh my oh my oh my...I don't know. I just don't know. I do know that I hope this baby goes where he is meant to go....weather it be with us for some huge huge miracle beyond all miracles...or with someone else who would love and care and appreciate him just like we would.

I just wish it could be with us and with his sister, Kayla. I have always had the feeling in my gut that one child just wouldnt be enough. And here is a baby needing a home, a baby that is our daughter's baby brother. A baby that could make us complete. One girl and one boy. A baby we could love.

It just sickens me that money makes the world go round. Cant the goodness of people's hearts make the world go round? Why should we have to miss the opportunity to become second time parents because we don't have that much cash? Why should Kayla miss out on being a big sister to her brother because her parents dont have $30,000 sitting in the bank? Why should a child miss out on a home with two parents who yearn to have more children because they don't have the cash piled for the initial costs?

Its just so unfair to me. So unfair and it hurts.

Got the pictures to upload!

First of all....everyone...please send positive thoughts to whoever you believe in....that Birth Mom's unborn baby (due in Feb) ends up in the hands of who is meant to be with him, care for him and love him. Let this baby end up where the big man wants him.

Here are the pictures I was trying to upload the other day and couldnt get to work.

Im back with a video

Well, I guess more people missed me than I thought would. I apologize. Nick come home, had 3 weeks off work so we stayed busy with him. Then I got lazy...then I lost my desire for blogging. I was feeling down for a little bit. But Im good...I will try to get back at this.

A couple weeks ago I found out that our Birth Mom is pregnant again. I wont post exactly how I feel on here since I dont know who is reading, but as you can imagine it opens up some old wounds for me. We wont be adopting this baby so it brings back old feelings. Old feelings of, "How can she get pregnant and I cant?" She is 20 and on her third pregnancy...and I cant get and stay pregnant once without spending thousands of dollars. Its Not Fair.

Anyways, I dont want to start blogging back up on a depressing note...so I will start with this video of Kayla...Please enjoy!

Im tieing a knot and hanging on+Typhoon coming

I'm going down a tough road right now. I wish I could blog about EVERY aspect of my life on here...but I really don't know who is on the other end reading all this.

I will say I've been very hurt and I am very angry with Kayla's birth mother. It was the icing to the cake that I've already been eating...meaning...

I'm just at the end of my rope here...missing my husband for 7 months, him being shot at, have bombs, mortars and RPG's thrown at him, with his homecoming date being pushed back so many times, being a single mother for 7 months, living on this island with no family and only 2 people I can really call my 'friends', and preparing for these dumb typhoons and tsunami warnings is no fun, and not to mention the stupid BS with BM that just topped everything off, and PMS sneaking up on me real soon- I just have nothing left in me and I need my husband....and family.

Thank God I have Kayla here to keep a smile on my face. Even when I get frustrated that she screams starting at 2 am ONLY because she has developed separation issues.

A once blogger friend told me years ago...and to this day I use the saying a lot, "When your at the end of your rope, tie a knot and hang on."

It is October finally...after all. 8 more days to hang on to the rope all alone.

Anyways...

Typhoon Melmar is supposed to hit us tomorrow...Saturday. The possiblity of it turning into a Super Typhoon is there. Of course, this has a big chance of changing until then. So today I will be yet again preparing for a storm. A bigger storm...that better show it's face. After the joke of the last one mixed with my very last button being pushed...I will be ticked off If I prepare for nothing.

Gee...did this blog put you in a great mood or what?

Below is a picture of the storm that just passed us and the storm appraoching us. We are smack dab in the middle of them both right now.

Here is the lastest info: I will keep updated...as long as we have electrity. (I heard the last major typhoon here the power was out for a month! I dont know how true that is though)

A "rapidly intensifying" typhoon is tracking to pass north of Saipan, but it wouldn't be uncommon for the storm to shift farther westward and closer to Guam than forecasted, National Weather Service meteorologist Chip Guard said yesterday.

As of 10 p.m., yesterday, the center of the Typhoon Melor was located at 14 degrees north and 152 degrees east, or about 490 miles east of Guam, according to the National Weather Service. The typhoon was moving west-northwest at about 10 mph.

"Its going to be a pretty strong typhoon," Guard said yesterday afternoon.

If Melor doesn't change course, the typhoon is expected to bring damaging winds to Guam on Saturday afternoon. The threat for damaging winds is expected to increase. Winds of that strength can tear tarps or canopies or rip branches off trees and possibly down power lines, Guard said. Residents are urged to make storm preparations.

The Weather Service warned that Melor will be large and dangerous system before it reaches the Marianas. The radius of damaging winds extends far from the center and the onset of damaging winds is possible in the Marianas Saturday afternoon.

Guam is under a tropical storm watch, which means tropical storm conditions, including winds of 39 to 73 mph, are possible within 48 hours.

Boring

I wish I could spill ALL the beans on my blog about every detail of my life. But my blog is set to public and I don't know who reads it.

I would love to spill every bean's detail and get advice on a certain topic. A topic that consists of Birth Mama Drama. But I cant.

Anyhow, no life= boring blog. I apologize.

Im still working on quilts. I finished sewing all the squares together of my BDU quilt. The next step would be to sew all the rows of squares together, but I'm putting that on hold so I can sew all the squares into rows of Kayla's quilt.

Yesterday Nick called me. I hadn't heard from him in 2 days prior to that. He was only able to say a few things in fear of the satellite phone failing again. But he did say he was safe and he is stuck at one base for a little bit hauling tools and equipment around to those who need it. The base is actually NOTHING. I mean nothing. They have nothing. What I mean by this is, they are going Number 2 in plastic bags and then burning it to dispose of it. He expects to be there a couple more days. From there I don't know. He said it will probably be a few a days before he can call me.

Above it a picture of Kayla from Sunday. (Yes, she has BBQ sauce on her face) She has become such the little girl from such the little baby. The past few days she has picked up on "Give me five!" And she smacks my hand to give me fives. She is such the little miss independent. And still at almost 9 months old, we cant leave a store without getting compliments on her hair, her eyes, her smile, her perfect skin tone and her good behavior. It reassures me I'm doing a good job.

Sometimes I just sit and watch her play, watch her entertain herself, watch her think, and it breaks my heart that Nick cant see her.

My life is boring

Not much at all going on here so not much at all to blog about. Im trying to somehow get Kayla out of the habit of waking up at 5 am but I cant seem to break her of it. She is asleep every night by 7 and no matter what I do I cant keep her awake any later. Yes, I've moved nap times and still...she out like a light. Then wide awake before the birds are and it makes me so tired. Sometimes, she wants to wake up even before 5 am. Because of this, I am even in bed by 8, some nights even at 7:30 I'm headed to bed. Any ideas?

Yesterday we went to the BX for lunch and while we were there I decided to walk around the BX as well to waste time. While there I saw water play toy that I knew Kayla would love and for $10 I couldn't pass it up.

When I got home...boy was I glad I bought it. I noticed Kayla's pool had blown away in the rain and the wind that picked up while we were out. I was so sad. I am still so sad. Nick said just buy another one, but its not the same. I want THAT one. It was her very first pool and she loved it. Even though she doesn't know the difference, I do. I'm sentimental like that.

On another note, I have a new button to the right of my blog. A big purple one. Thank you to The R House, Mrs. R has created a segment on her blog for adoptive parents, and anyone else who would like to ask a birth mom a question or questions. On her blog, the birth mom's will answer your questions. These birth mom's are amazingly strong women, just like all birth mom's, so please go take a look and read about them, and read the questions they answered. Maybe birth mom's will have a new place in your heart as you read more about that side of adoption.

Tsunami test/Contest winner/Kayla is 3 months old!

Ok, so the Tsunami watch was a test and no one knew about it. Turns out on the radio Nick heard that the Tsunami watch was REAL, but it was real because there was miscommunication coming out of Japan. Japan was running an emergency TEST of a 9.2 earthquake and the weather center didn't realize it was a test. So they sent out the Tsunami watch for Guam. Shheesh.

So, the winner for the caption contest....I couldn't pick one. I did have a few favorites but I couldn't bear that task of picking one. I didn't want to seem like I was playing favorites even though that is what I was supposed to do. Pick my favorite. So my bright idea...write everyone's name on a piece of paper and leave it up to my cat to choose. I threw each paper name at him and waited until he picked one by playing with it. Roo usually cant resist playing with a paper bally. But this time he did....he spotted a lizard out back right after I threw the balls at him. Figures. So while he was lizard hunting, I flung each paper ball at him until he went after one. He went after this one................(drum roll please)

EMILY's MOMMY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
And now he continues to play with the rest of the paper balls.
Emily's Mommy's caption...:"Hey YOU in the WHITE...don't come any closer or I'll have to dirty my diaper!"

CONGRATS JODY!! Expect a picture of our little princess in the mail. Im still waiting on them to arrive to me from shutterfly.com. But I should be getting them any day now. And I will also be using this caption with her picture in her scrapbook. I will note on the page who the caption came from.

Here are the pictures from the paper ball drawing.

29 July 08

Hey blogger family!

All is well here. Sorry its been a few days. I know you all must be on the edge of your seats! We are doing great.

Saturday night we went to Kaitlyn's house for dinner. It could not have gone better. We really get along so wonderfully and I am so thankful for that. It will be really good for Kayla when she older and understands. We were at her house for about 5 hours and it was the quickest 5 hours ever. Time just flew because we had so much fun. She gave us a gift bag of presents for the baby. Wipes, lotion, soap, picture frame and some small things. She also put 2 cards in the bag and wrote some really beautiful things in them. Those cards we will keep safe for Kayla to read when shes older. Kaitlyn's best friend Kim was there and also Carlos, the birth father was there. We all spent some good quality together playing UNO.

Sunday Nick and I went to St. Augustine. Its a real old town founded in 1565- I think. We walked around for 2 hours until we got unbearably hot. The picture above is us walking around. Its not a great picture of me- I forgot to smile because it was so hot out. lol.

Yesterday, Monday, we met Kaitlyn at her last doctor's appointment. We got to hear the magical sound of Kayla's heartbeat and Kaitlyn got her cervix checked again. Still only 2 centimeters.

So tomorrow is the big day. Wednesday morning at 6:45 we will meet Kaitlyn and Kim and follow them to the hospital. At 7:30 Kaitlyn will get her water broke and then get started on pitocin followed by her epidural. We expect to see Kayla by Wednesday evening. I cant even begin to describe how Nick and I feel at this point of the process after waiting over 5 years now. Five years of heartache and heartbreak that can now be put behind us.

This whole process is truely utterly amazing. This doesnt happen. Adoptions like this are so incredibly rare and here we are. It really is just meant to be.
