Lost

Happenings in the Alessi household have gotten lost in the shuffle since my friend's tragic news. I thank each and everyone one of you who either read my blog and left a comment, or just thought of my friend and her family. Im still in the state of disbelief of all of this. Its like the things you see in horror movies and on the news to people you expect it from. Its like a bad dream that I can not wake her up out of.
There have been a lot death things going on. The 2nd anniversary of Aunt Deb's death, the 1st anniversary of my Pappy's death and my Great Grandma wrote me a card saying she forgot to tell me when I talked to her, that my Great Aunt Sofie passed away in March. This was a shock. I mean, she was in her 80's but still very unexpected. And then the even more unexpected loss of one of my only and best friend's parents.

Anyways, back to the Alessi household. Let's see. What's been going on here?

*May 3rd was our last final post placement visit for Caden's adoption! Finalization is still set for June 9th at 9 am. Because of the time difference and 8,000 miles between us and Jacksonville, FL we have to do a tele-conference on the phone at 11 PM June 9th our time at the on base legal office. It's going to stink dragging both babies out of bed at that time. Im NOT looking forward it, but dont get me wrong...it's oh so well worth it.

*Our big furry Pooh Bear turned 9 (NINE?!) years old on May 5th. Feels like there was never a life before him, only with him. He is still a big pest-y kitten at heart.

*May 4th Caden hit 3 months old. He is smiling a lot, fussing a lot (he is such a gassy baby) sleeping a lot, chewing on his hands a lot. He has certainly discovered chewing his hands. He has also discovered his voice! Yesterday May 8th he let out his very first giggle. Just to show how different blood siblings can be...Kayla didn't do any of this until 4 months old. However, I am predicting he will be behind on all the other things like sitting, standing, crawling. We shall see!

*Caden has slept from 7pm to 7am 2 days in a row with only one feeding at 3:30 am. This makes for a happy Mom.

*Kayla has a new fascination with being naked. Naked to her is wearing a diaper only, so most days we are hanging around at home, she's naked.

*Caden upgraded to a size 3 diaper. Kayla upgraded to a size 4 diaper, but only because she has gained some serious height. The 3's were too short for her and the 4's are too big in the waist. I need to seriously start potty training her. I just havent had the desire to commit to that yet.

*I (we) made my (our) first fondant cake. Pics and blog post about this to come later.

*Kayla is now 21 months old and I have her birthday theme set as Butterflies!

*Today is Mother's Day. Happy Mother's Day to all the Moms, birth moms, moms to be,moms who are still waiting, and moms who have angels because you are moms too.
If you would have told me last year, or even the year before, or even 3 years ago that by Mother's Day 2010 I would have TWO babies...I would have laughed at you.

5 May 2008- Birthday Boy

Today's Birthday boy is.....

Our Pooh Bear!!!!!

Today marks his 7th Birthday. Seven!? He was just 2 years old when he was adopted by us. We were in Aviano Italy. Nick worked with his owner. He was a young single guy and we went over to his apartment a couple times so Nick could play poker with him and a few other guys. Once I went with him just to get out. His apartment REEKED of cigarettte smoke. I mean, you- walk- through- the- door- into- a- gray- cloud- reek. It was BAD.

The whole time the guys played, I sat on the couch petting "Stripe." We bonded, fast.

A few months later we got a call from said guy. He was moving back to the states and could only take 1 of his 2 cats. He said "Stripe" would adjust more easy to a new family then his other cat. Right away I said yes and Nick said lets talk about it first. Well, I won him over within minutes.

Days later Pooh Bear was at home. We were warned that "Stripe" doesnt cuddle. He's the boss, and he does not cuddle. He wont go near a bed. Wont sit on it, lay on it, sniff it- nothing. When he brought him home, he hated me. I couldnt go near him without him growling and batting at me. He wouldnt leave our bedroom. He wouldnt explore the house. He wanted nothing to do with me or the house. The only thing he did was sit on Nick's tall dresser and at stare. He was mad.

He changed quickly. Within days. The first day he came downstairs Nick and I were in the living room, on the floor opening our Christmas gifts. It was Christmas Day. He adjusted to his rightful name fast, and he was soon sleeping with me, on my side of the bed.

Now he's the most loving, most cuddly attention hog I know. And his lungs have been smoke free for 5 years now which Im sure has added many years more for us to be together.

To my Birthday Boy...How's Fancy Feast for dinner sound? Happy Birthday Pooh Bear. Maw and Paw love you like no other kitty.

Next month, is our other boy's 4th birthday. FOUR?!

24 Feb 2008

Gesh, Its been about 5 days since I posted. Please forgive me. I've either been too tired to type or out exploring. Nick is playing his video games on his PS3 now so I have time and a little energy to spare to update you all. So much has happened in the past 5 days. I have to much to tell you all!! And a slide show to share.

First I know you are all wondering how the bean is doing. We haven't had an ultrasound yet. We go on Tuesday to enroll me into Tricare here on base. Then we will find out what we need to do to get into the doctor on or around March 7th. I will be almost 8 weeks by then. Things are going great but I still worry and wonder if everything is progressing as it should be. Nick is very sure that everything is fine from the symptoms I been having lately. My last pregnancy I had no symptoms. Tomorrow we hit week 6. The past week I have been absolutely starving. I mean, I cant get full. I'm hungry all the time. My pants are tight in the waist. Summer shorts and pants that I wore very comfortably or loosely last summer, are tight. I desperately need to go clothes shopping. I have to pee 2-4 times a night and because of that (and the 15 hour time difference now) I cant sleep. I was constipated on the plane here. Not fun. And my bobs are huge. Yesterday we went out and Nick forced me to buy a nice bra. I didn't want to spend 25 bucks on a bra. Can you believe a freaking FULL 36 D?? WTF? Wow. Also just about every day, either part of the day, sometimes all day I feel so bloated! Like when I was on the IVF injections. Bloated- like I feel like a hot air balloon! So because of all this Nick is confident things are well. But, I always have that what if in the back of my mind.

Now, about Guam. Wow. This place is amazing. This really is paradise. I cant believe we live here now. I told Nick, I don't think I will ever want to leave. Hes going to have to pry me out of here. Yesterday we went to the beach near our hotel but only for 45 minutes. Nick burns easy and we didnt buy him any sunscreen. The water is like bath water. It was cold at first because there was a breeze going but after you got in it was so warm. It was so clean, and clear and blue. Not salty at all like the beaches in the states. Palm trees with coconuts everywhere. The local people are really nice, happy, relaxed and helpful. Its live we are living a vacation.

Tomorrow we get to pick up our cats from quarantine. We worried about them for nothing which I knew was going to happen. We get to visit with them everyday, bring their favorite treats and food and Pooh Bears favorite brush. The first day we went to visit them, they day after we flew in Roo was so ticked off and mad at us. So much so that it was just so funny and cute. As soon as he saw me he started his meowing. The meowing he does when he looking for me around the house. I went into their kennel and he rubbed on me a minute then realized he was mad and started growling and wouldn't let me pet him. Then he would rub and love on me and the get mad again. It was so funny. Today he was his normal self. Pooh Bear just seems as if nothing happened. I cant wait to have them back.

We are still living in a hotel right now. The lady at the housing office said we wont get a house until middle of March because there is no funding to fix up a house for us. The stupid thing is, is that they are paying us $229 PER DAY(!!!!) to live in this hotel. The hotel cost plus meal costs since our room does not have a kitchen. So they are out of funding but they are paying us way more to live in a hotel?? Somebody cant do math. The lady said we would get a call Monday or Tuesday to let us know. I just want a house to call home. I want my things, I want to be able to cook my own meals, I want my own bed. Hopefully some funding money will fall from the sky and we can get into a house sooner rather than later.

Well, thats all for now. I'm tired. This time change is killing me sleeping schedule. I heard it takes a god week or 2 to adjust. Its incredibly tiring. Plus I have to pee now. So until next time friends, I leave you with a slide show of our first 3 days here in a magical paradise.

Baby pictures of our Roo.

Roo newly born, you can see still his umbelical cord!!

Today is full of birthdays. Today my sister turns 14. Today is also my best friend's daughter's birthday. They are still stationed in Aviano Italy, where we spent 3 wonderful years watching those children grow. I miss them terribly. Today is my Roo's 3rd birthday. 3 years ago today, in Italy, at my best friend's house, I watched him being born. It was just amazing and so human like. Its hard to believe how fast time goes.

5 may 2007

Today my Pooh Bear is 6 years old! Happy Birthday Boy!
AF is knocking on my door. I've left it open, just waiting for her walk through. She is so close!!!!!

Oh, I been sick the last few days...today I took a 2 hour nap and I had a dream about our vial of sperm in storage. I've never had a dream like that before. I mean, it was very clear. I pulled the vial out of the tank and I could see the vial with the donor numbers all over it, and the frost melting off of it and all. Then I woke up, and in a matter of 2 hours AF was here full force. Weird, huh? A sign? Yup...good old AF is here!!

My main reason for this post is for Tracey. For those who dont know, she's a blog/NW buddy who just had 2 little embryo's transfered yesterday. I am so rooting for her. She has been on this TTC journey way too long and needs her baby!

And Tammy....I'm wishing you first timers luck. Your chart just looks amazing. Those temps are great. I would say a BFP, but I am by no means a doctor..LOL!

Tara and Kim, I want to wish you girls all the STICKY baby dust in the world. We will get our beans! I know it.

Good Luck girls!
